Wollongong Golf Club

Placed in the centre of Wollongong and the stunning Illawarra Escarpment and set beside the ocean, it is easy in this serene environment to forget everything and just enjoy the game.
Begun in 1897 it is one of the oldest clubs in the country, just one hour from Sydney. It carries four-star triple-A rated accommodation.
With its location next to the beach, you will enjoy a memorable experience.
An 18 hole championship links course it will see the Champion of Champions in December. With vast open areas, pristine greens and an oceanic climate it is a golfers paradise.

Illawarra region is notable for its iron and steel, it also has its own stunning natural beauty from the beaches to the hills. These provide the backdrop to a quality golf course.

Major champions Gene Sarazen, Gary Player, Bobby Locke and Steve Elkington have all played here.

In April 2014 stage two of the course renovations were completed, numerous new holes were completed and have been a massive success. These were created by Ross Watson.
One of the features was to extend the opening Par-five with undulating green at a raised level. They have reshaped bunkers and added new chipping areas but still keeping the same shot values.
They have also introduced flora natural to the local area where the club has its own vegetation management.

Wollongong known locally as The Gong, it is a seaside city on a thin coastal strip between the Illawarra Escarpment and the Pacific ocean.
With an estimated population of around 299,203, it is the third largest city in NSW. It also has a continuous chain of surf beaches.
